The Ship That Dove Into The Sun by Sean Brandywine

In the not-too distant future, man had learned how to travel much faster than the speed of light, making exploration of the nearest star systems possible. He has visited four stars and began a colony on Alpha Centauri, but still not met any other intelligent life out there. Until, that is, the newest and biggest star ship, the New York, encounters an alien craft that pulls it out of high C flight, kidnaps one of the passengers and then tries to destroy the New York. A handful of survivors manage to board the alien craft, where, strangely enough, they find they were apparently expected. But why do the aliens refuse to show themselves? And where is the alien ship taking them?
